The Stud at Brendon Hill originated with the breeding of tough, sound horses for the hunting field. With the arrival of stallion, Ben Faerie, the stud then became responsible for the breeding of many successful Advanced event horses and two Olympic contenders. Priceless was obviously the most famous of the stud's horses, with his Olympic bronze medal and World Championship win, as well as winning Badminton and Burghley.
Brendon Hill Farm prides itself on the personal care and attention given to the visiting mares during their time at stud. All the stud work and foaling is personally supervised by the owners and their son Michael. Foaling is also assisted by cameras and foaling alarms.
 |
The mares are grazed over a large acreage on the stock farm and, at the end of the stud season, the ground is stocked with sheep and cattle to prevent the ground becoming overgrazed by horses.
